Operations Policy and Country Services

(See also Enabling Services.) Operations Policy and Country Services (OPCS) supports World Bank Group operations from its unique position at the interface of the Board, Senior Management, and the operations complex. It works with Senior Management to support the Board in its policymaking role; it supports Senior Management and Bank Group teams with advice, reviews, and knowledge sharing on the country and sector strategies that provide the framework for operations; it coordinates the development and implementation of strategies for particular groups of countries; it provides upstream reviews and advice on areas central to Bank Group operations; and it spearheads the Bank Group's work on corporate and international priorities, including fragile situations, avian influenza, the harmonization and alignment agenda, and the results agenda.

Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) promotes policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world. The OECD provides a forum in which governments can work together to share experiences and seek solutions to common problems. The OECD works with governments to understand what drives economic, social, and environmental change. It also measures productivity and global flows of trade and investment, analyzes and compares data to predict future trends, and sets international standards on a wide range of topics, from agriculture to the safety of chemicals.
