As pointed out above, this stumbling block to improving morale can be addressed in many instances by actively involving large numbers of your staff in developing a collaborative approach to business plans. Absence of Creativity
Creativity is generally understood to encompass imagination, innovation, and all those factors that lead to originality, inventiveness, and ingenuity. Where a lack of creativity exists, the central issues again point to leadership, morale, and training. Consequently, the task is to create a work environment whereby groups participate in making “their combinations ... so infinite that one cannot visualize them all.”
On one occasion, 3M invited all of its sales, marketing, and research and development employees to a Web-based forum called InnovationLive, which over a two-week period attracted more than 1,200 participants from over 40 countries and generated more than 700 ideas. The end result was the identification of nine new future markets with an aggregate revenue potential in the tens of billions of dollars. Since then, 3M has held several additional InnovationLive events, with more planned for the future.
Now the method of employing men is to ... give responsibility to each in situations that suit him. Do not charge people to do what they cannot do. Select them and give them responsibilities commensurate with their abilities.
