US Environmental Protection Agency Integrated Pest Management in Buildings

The Office of Pesticide Programs has written a document entitled “Integrated Pest Management in Buildings.” It discusses an integrated environmentally friendly pest management program and uses a common sense approach to the control of pests. (See endnote 22.)

Pesticide Fact Sheets

The US EPA has published a list of topical and chemical fact sheets easily accessed on the internet. These fact sheets cover pesticides used in decontamination of anthrax spore bioterrorism attacks, antimicrobial pesticides, the pesticide atrazine, chromated copper arsenate, DDT, diazinon, and many others. It also presents fact sheets entitled Assessing Health Risks from Pesticides, Citizen’s Guide to Pest Control and Pesticide Safety, Consumer Products Treated with Pesticides, EPA and Food Security, Mosquito Control in the United States, Laws Affecting EPA’s Pesticide Programs, etc. (See endnote 23.)

National Pesticide Information Center

The National Pesticide Information Center located at Oregon State University at Corvallis is a cooperative effort between the university and the US Environmental Protection Agency. It provides unbiased, science-based information on EPA-registered pesticides and pesticides used by people for a variety of purposes. It is involved in a variety of topic areas including pesticides and human health, pesticides and animal health, safe use practices, pest control, pesticide ingredients, occupational safety, etc. (See endnote 24 for topics and phone number of the center, where individuals can receive help and guidance concerning pesticides.)
