Survey

A national survey of dietary supplement recommendations pointed out the lack of research and clinical efficacy in England [44]. The time has come for more research on nutritional recommendations and rating of bariatric surgery success on nutritional well-being instead of pounds lost.

Nutrition Supplement Order Form

At the very least, a nutrition supplement order form should be provided to the patient pre- and postsurgery to impress on them the importance of adding nutrition to their dietary regime. A multivitamin and mineral capsule for use presurgery and opened up capsule after surgery + probiotic capsule + eicosapentaenoic acid-docosahexaenoic acid (EPA-DHA) gel cap should be recommended. Liquid forms are available for postsurgery incorporation into smoothies or soft food.
