Student-Centered Observation Rubric (SCOR)
The SCOR is a tool for principals, teachers, teaching teams and anyone else who wants to peer into a classroom and observe students. Classroom observations shift from observing the teacher to observing the students. This makes sense. If I want to get a full picture of a dance teacher's ability, I go watch her pupils perform. If I want to assess an elementary teacher's reading teaching ability, I go listen to the students read. Comprehensive teacher actions lead to effective student practices. The rubric is used as a formative tool in conjunction with the learning evaluation. It is a tool to assess teacher impact in the classroom as a result of the work done in teacher teams.
