THE CONCEPT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND BIG DATA AND THE WAY THEY RELATE TO SMART CITIES
This hub seeks to introduce it and big data and the mechanism of their association with smart cities through the role of information technology as a mechanism for controlling, and using big data and using it in an individual environment.
12.2.1 THE DEFINITION OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Information technology is defined as “the framework for computer science, information systems, communication networks and their applications in various organized humanitarian work.”
Contemporary information technology contains five key elements: people, hardware, software, database, and networks, complementing each other, and bonding in a way that makes the system work effectively [1].
These interrelated and interactive elements can be explained as follows:
- 1. People: Represented by:
- • End users are individuals who use the system or information produced by the system, such as managers, accountants, and customers. On this basis, most of us use the system;
- • Specialists in information systems, which are responsible for the system’s operation and sustainability, which technology develops, operates, and manages the information system, including System Analysts, Software Developers, and System Operators from The government’s work.
- 2. Hardware: This includes all the different types of components and physical media used in the processes that pass-through data and information, such as computer systems for various kinds and peripheral accessories in multiple forms.
- 3. Software: Which includes all and different types of software needed in data processing, including:
- • Operating system systems that help to operate the computer and control its components;
- • Applications, including programming languages, such as V.C+, V. Basic, database software, statistical analysis programs, word processing programs, and electronic table programs.
- 4. Databases: The data set and documents to be traded within the system.
- 5. Networks: Which includes communication technologies of various types of networks, such as the Internet, internal intranet networks, external networks/extranet, which have become important in the management of successful e-business, and business processes in all their types.
12.2.2 DEFINITION OF BIG DATA
Big data is defined as a collection of a set of large and complex data with unique characteristics (e.g., size, speed, diversity, variance, data health) that cannot be handled efficiently using current and traditional technology to take advantage of. This type of data is accompanied by the provision, processing, storage, analysis, search, sharing, transmission, transmission, and regeneration of this type of data, in addition to maintaining the specificities that accompany [2].
12.2.3 THE SUSTAINABLE OBJECTIVES OF BIG DATA IN THE LIGHT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
The increase in technological development and the so-called electronic cloud and digitization have led international organizations and organizations concerned with infonnation technology, environmental protection organizations, and human beings to research how to exploit the power of big data through infonnation technology in achieving a sustainable environment and cities.
It enables, for the good of the human environment, the use of infonnation technology in the management of big data. This has made it possible to gain access to a variety of environmental benefits by developing what are called cities characterized by high control of big data.
